High Springs Gap Water Level Monitoring Network
Plan, install and operate eight water level recorders, near High Springs FL, 2003-present; For CCDA Waters LLC funded by Florida Springs Initiative Grant.
Eight water level recorders were sited and put in operation within the High Springs Gap Springs Recharge Area. Work included site selection, landowner agreements, oversight of survey and installation of 3 wells, purchase of equipment and installation, develop website for public access to data.
Develop Spring Protection Zone Databases
Three selected first magnitude springs, FL, 2002; for the Florida DEP.
A study was made to assist the FDEP identification and delineation of existing and potentially vulnerable areas within the recharge areas of Rainbow Spring-Marion County, Blue Spring-Lafayette County and Blue Spring-Jackson County. These reports were to guide the establishment of spring source protection areas for first magnitude spring sites. ArcView Spring Protection Zone Databases and Spring Protection Zone Boundaries were produced for the reports.
Hydrogeological Study of the Main Homosassa Spring
Homosassa Springs State Wildlife Park, FL, 1991-1992; for the Florida DNR.
This study involved monitoring water quality and flow levels of the spring at high and low tides during a selected period. Full parameter water and sediment sampling was performed, sediment quantity was estimated, and the cave system of the spring was explored, mapped and photographed.

Discharge Measurements at Silver Springs;
Main Spring and Catfish Reception Hall Spring
Silver Spring, Marion County, FL, 2005; St. Johns River Water Management District.
Investigate Silver Spring Main Spring to delineate multiple groundwater sources and create video record. Perform discharge measurements at the vent cross-sections of the Silver Spring Main Spring, and Catfish Reception Hall Spring in the Silver River, with a flowmeter adapted for underwater use. Assist District personnel with water sampling at these and various other spring vents within the Silver River.

Perform discharge measurements within Crystal Beach Spring at a cross-section of the conduit below the level of the ocean bottom with flowmeter adapted for underwater use.
Discharge Measurements of Island Spring
Island Spring, Seminole County, FL, 2001-present; St. Johns River Water Management District.
Perform discharge measurements within Island Spring at a cross-section of the conduit below the level of the Wekiva River bottom with flowmeter adapted for underwater use.

Semi-Annual Discharge and Water Level Measurements; Ginnie, Dogwood and Little Devil’s Springs

Take semi-annual measurements of three springs, and measure water levels of local well network and two gauge stations developed by KES.

DYE TRACING
Mill and Lee Sinks Dye Trace
Northwest Alachua County area, Mill Creek and Lee Sinks to Various Santa Fe River Springs, Alachua County, FL, 2005; for the Alachua County Environmental Protection Department..
Designed, organized and conducted dye trace of Mill Creek Sink and Lee Sink (swallet for Cellon Creek) to potential connections along the Santa Fe River, with various private and municipal wells also monitored. The connection of Hornsby Spring to both sinks has been established.
Dyal and Black Sinks to Rose Creek Sink Cave Dye Trace
Clay Hole Creek Trace area, Rose Creek Sink Cave and Ichetucknee Springs State Park, Columbia County, FL, 2003; for the Florida DEP.
Designed, organized and conducted tracer dye study of Dyal and Black Sinks to Rose Creek Sink Cave System. Connections to Rose Creek Sink Cave, various Ichetucknee Springs, and wells were established.
Rose Creek Swallet/Ichetucknee Springs Dye Trace
Ichetucknee Trace area and Ichetucknee Springs State Park, Columbia County, FL, 1997; Ichetucknee Springs Water Quality Working Group.
As part of a volunteer effort, designed, organized and executed tracer dye study of the Ichetucknee Trace. Connections of various park springs to Rose Creek Swallet were established, along with an identification of travel times. Coordinated various governmental agencies and citizen volunteers.
Ichetucknee Hydrology Study
Ichetucknee Springs State Park, FL, 1991; for the Florida DNR.
The primary focus of this study was a quantitative dye trace that was designed to show levels of connectivity of the Park’s springs. Flow measurements, underwater exploration and cave mapping were also conducted as part of the study.

RADIOLOCATION OF UNDERGROUND CONDUIT
Radio Location of Well Sites
Numerous sites; drilling (when performed) successful at all sites, including Manatee Springs in Levy County, Millpond Spring in Jackson County, Little River Spring in Suwannee County, Florida, and Blue Springs at near Pine Mountain, Georgia; clients include the Suwannee River Water Management District, various property owners and water companies.
Positioned well locations precisely within underground cave conduit using radio beacon device. At all eight sites where drilling has been attempted to date, the cave passage has been successfully intercepted.

WATER RESOURCES DEVELOPMENT
Orange Springs Consumptive Use Permit Applications
Marion County, FL, 1993-95; for Florida Orange Springs, Inc and 2004 for Premium Waters, Inc.
Prepared and submitted consumptive water use permit applications to St. Johns River Water Mgmt. District for bottlers of spring water at the Orange Springs site. Permit application preparation included water plant water budget study, development of conservation plan and installation of flume to monitor spring discharge.
Spring Water Exploration, Testing, and Permitting
Numerous sites in several states, 1988 to present; various clients.

SPRING RESTORATION AND MAINTENANCE
Bird Park Restoration Project at Homosassa Springs State Wildlife Park
Homosassa Springs State Wildlife Park, Citrus County, FL, 1998; for George Burns Enterprises and the Florida DEP, Division of Recreation and Parks.
Prepared and submitted Environmental Resource Permit to SWFWMD restoration of Bird Park Spring and adjacent waterways. Sediments were removed and dewatered, along with other rock and debris.
Oversight and Coordination of Spring Restoration Activities
Ginnie Spring, Gilchrist County, FL, 1993; for Ginnie Springs, Inc.
Provided on-site management and labor for airlift dredging operations used to remove debris accumulation from the lower section of Ginnie Spring. Tasks also included equipment set-up and take-down, de-watering basin construction, and diagram preparations for permit application.
Hydrogeological Study of the Main Homosassa Spring; Spring Restoration
Homosassa Springs State Wildlife Park, FL, 1991-1992; for the Florida DNR.
Permitting for basin sediment removal was obtained from the FDER and Army Corps of Engineers. Sediment was removed using airlifts, de-watered, and properly disposed of.

BIOLOGICAL SURVEYS
Survey of Cave Fauna
Survey of faunal populations of various Florida Springs, 2003; project funded by Florida Springs Initiative Grant.
Conducted a comprehensive biological survey of selected sites throughout Florida for various cave-dwelling species, to observe and record specie status and conditions of habitat.
Ecological Evaluation of a Site near Blue Springs, Lafayette County
Undeveloped site, Lafayette County, FL, 2002; for private client/landowner
Conducted ecological surveys for client on 55 acre site near Blue Spring, describing, inventorying and evaluating biological and geological resources, including studies within underlying cave passages.
Survey for the Florida Cave Shrimp
Squirrel Chimney Cave System, Alachua County, FL, 1994, 1995,1996; for the US Fish and Wildlife Service (1992) and the Florida Game and Freshwater Fish Commission.
Conducted biological surveys of the Squirrel Chimney Cave System for the Florida Cave Shrimp (Paleomonetes cummingi), other species, and observed the condition of the site environment. Reports included a cave survey map, photographs, and video.
